What is CBN ?
Cannabinoil is better known as CBN.
Lately it seems everyone has been discussing it as the best new sleep aid, but did you know it has actually been around since 1896 ?
In Fact, it was one of the first cannabinoids every discovered.
CBN comes from occurs from oxygenation and decomposition of THC. Part of the reason there are not many studies specifically on CBN is it was originally believed to a waste-product found only in stale cannabis. It is currently debated whether the effects of CBN should be considered non-psychoactive or very mildly psychoactive.
Health Benefits of CBN
SLEEP
The most popular reason people seek out CBN is for a better night’s sleep. Currently CBN is considered a sedative compound that can potentially help people who suffer from conditions such as insomnia and sleep disorders. The existing studies are promising, but more research needs to be done in order to determine how potent of a sedative CBN is, as well as the best dosing methods.
PAIN RELIEF
Much like CBD, CBN has shown promising reults with pain relief. A study completed in 2002 suggests that CBN alters pain signals sent to the brain by neurons. Specifically, the study shows CBN may evoke sensory nerve-mediated relaxation of rat hepatic and mesenteric arterial segments. CBN is not psychoactive, but for the study’s purpose it appears to work equally as well as THC.
ANTI-CONVULSIVE
Many people may be aware THC is commonly used to treat seizures, but CBN has also been studied for it’s anti-convulsive properties. In states where THC is illegal, it is not uncommon for people to seek out other cannabinoids as an alternative.
ANTIBACTERIAL
CBN is 1 of the 5 cannabinoids that has been studied for it’s antibacterial properties. In the study CBN showed potent activity against MRSA. MRSA is known for being extremely reistant to antibiotics.
